Hamilton Medical Community Gears up for Third Annual Give a Day Campaign
Tim O’Shea, writes:
The Hamilton health care community got the ball rolling for their third annual “Give a Day” campaign this past Thursday with Dr. Jane Philpott addressing the Department of Internal Medicine’s Grand Rounds. The response was extremely positive despite the early morning hour and the traffic chaos of the first winter storm of the year. Hamilton health care workers have increased their donations over the past two years and we are hoping to do the same again this year. A donation table will be set up at St Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, November 30th.

Stikeman Elliott kicks off first Give a Day campaign
Andrea Boctor writes,
“We kicked off our first Give a Day campaign on Friday with Stephen Lewis coming to the firm to speak to a group of about 150 of us. It was a fantastic turn out! Judging by the emails sent around the office afterwards, I think it is safe to say that everyone was moved and inspired by Mr. Lewis’s words, passion and commitment to solving the AIDS crisis. Let’s hope the great turn out and momentum on Friday translate into donations! Our campaign continues with an information session and book raffle this week.”

One month to go!
World AIDS Day is just a month away! Give a Day 2007 is growing in all directions.
There are now 16 law firms running GAD campaigns. New workplaces are joining the effort every week. Some of the hospitals are holding friendly competitions to see who can raise the most money.
What difference does GAD make? Every dollar donated brings support and healing to those affected by AIDS. But the movement does more than ameliorate the plight of communities in Africa… it’s part of the groundswell that’s been lacking in countries like Canada. It’s the voice of the people shouting: We are appalled that thousands of young people die every day from AIDS-related illnesses. We’re angry about the injustices that drive the pandemic. And… we’re willing to dig into our own pockets and be part of the solution.
Why not mobilize your community? Act up! Speak up! Give up a day’s pay!
