Donations from the 2008 Give a Day Campaign Still Coming In!
We are thrilled to announce that the present total for the 2008 Give a Day Campaign is over $400,000 and that donations are still coming in.
We would like to thank each of you for your tremendous efforts to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation and Dignitas International. We are particularly grateful that during this uncertain economic time people have made a commitment to provide help where it is truly needed! It is not too late for people to donate, so please encourage any colleagues who may be intending to donate to do so now!
We will provide a full reporting of the campaign totals in the New Year, but in the meantime, if you have any remaining pledge forms please forward them to the Stephen Lewis Foundation and Dignitas International at your earliest convenience.

Restaurant employees in Ajax “Give a Day” at night!
Ashley Meek, an employee of the restaurant Havana Nights writes… “I came across the ‘Give A Day’ campaign while surfing the Diginitas website. I wanted to take part in the campaign, but I work as a server at a restaurant (Havana Nights, Ajax), so I had to alter the idea a little bit. I spoke to a few people at work and we decided to raise money for the cause on Friday November 30th.
Everyone who was involved (whether they donated a portion of their earnings, all of their tips or collected money from customers) wore the buttons that you sent to me. It was good exposure for World AIDS Day and the customers inquired all night about the red buttons we were wearing!
Here’s what we did: personally donated all or a portion of tips made that night and collected donations at the door from our customers as they entered the restuarant, some emmployees. We only raised about $230 in total, but it was fun and really quite easy. In fact, some of the staff are thinking about doing a fundraiser for Diginitas International again! We’ve been coming up with ideas that involve draws for gift certificates for the resturant, etc.

You know that we’re all in this together. No person, no community, no country or continent should face the impact of HIV alone. Give a Day is an expression of global solidarity. Yes we will work together to address this pandemic. Give a Day? Yes we will.

Medical students at University of Western support Give a Day
Medical students at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry are throwing their energy behind the Give a Day to World AIDS campaign. As students who aren’t yet earning an income, they have chosen to throw moral support behind the idea by raising awareness about HIV, studying about AIDS, volunteering or making a nominal donation.
