Dignitas International is a medical humanitarian organization that develops solutions for HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Dignitas provides frontline medical care and training, conducts high-impact research, develops innovative models of care, and advocates for changes in health policy to improve the lives of millions in the developing world.
Over the next three years, Dignitas will:
- Strengthen the HIV/AIDS referral clinic in Zomba, Malawi, which serves as Dignitas’s long-term program, research and development site. It is in Zomba where over 16,000 patients have been treated for HIV and over 500 health workers have been trained to date. Zomba has also served as the site for the development and implementation of innovations aimed at improving patient care and strengthening weak health systems.
- Expand HIV/AIDS services in five additional districts in Malawi, which will increase access to 3.1 million people, nearly one quarter of Malawi’s population.
- Provide training and ongoing mentorship to 2,000 health workers and health systems managers.
- Start an additional 40,000 adults and children on life-saving HIV treatment.
“To see first hand, the impact of AIDS on African communities inspires you, as an individual, to try to do something to help. Dr. Philpott has taken this further – she has inspired other individuals to join her in her fight against AIDS.” - Dr. James Orbinski, Co-Founder, Dignitas International
